Best Workout Ever!

This is the best work out ever because it provides great cardio, tones your lower body and it only takes 15 minutes!  This workout kicks my butt every time and I feel it in my lower body for days afterwards (in a good way).  Ok so here's what you do: do this workout two or three times a week.  Complete as many reps of each move as you can in 60 seconds, going from one exercise to the next without resting.  Take a one-minute break, then repeat for a total of three sets.

Product of the Month: May

With Spring comes rain and thunderstorms so I wanted to feature a product this month that deals with smooth and frizz-free hair.  Therefore, the product of the month for May is John Frieda's Frizz Ease Three Day Straight Spray.  I have very thick and frizzy hair and I've tried lots of different creams, gels, and sprays to tame my frizzy tresses.  I was near the end of my rope when I decided to try the Three Day Straight Spray, I didn't think it was going to work like it said it would.  However, I sprayed it on my damp hair, blow dried my it and immediately saw and felt a difference!

Heavy Metal

This blog is all about heavy metal and no I don't mean the music genre, I'm talking about metallic nail polish!  I've created these nails designs using 3 different metallic nail polishes:

                                                                               Gold
For this look I used Revlon's Metallic's nail polish in Gold Coin, Forever 21's
nail polish in Taupe and Sally Hansen's Nail Art Pen in White

                                                                                Silver
For this look, I used a silver glitter nail polish and made the
designs with Sally Hansen's Nail Art Pen in Black

                                                                               Copper
For this look, I used Revlon's metallic nail polish in Copper Penny and
Sally Hansen's Nail Art Pen in Black. I love this look its very tribal-like

Celebrity Looks for Less

Want to dress like your favorite celebrity?  Look no further! Here are a few celebrity looks I found that are similar and cost a lot less.

This first look is of Hayley Williams from Paramore's new music video "Now."  I instantly fell in love with her outfit (and the song) and immediately started looking for similar clothes online. Here's what I came up with:

*All clothing from Forever 21 except for boots which are from urbanog.com

Military Jacket:  $32.80                                              Black Combat Boots: $34.90

Taupe Cable Knit Sweater: $24.80                                             Destroyed Skinny Jeans: $22.80

*To get Hayley's look, cut some slits into the sweater to give it a more edgy look

PS, here is the video if you're interested in checking it out:

A fun twist on an old classic!

Who doesn't love a classic black leather skirt?
It's so chic and goes with anything:

But now that spring is here, I thought why not put a twist an old classic?  Instead of the black leather skirt, this season's hottest trend is the blush pink leather skirt.  Pair it with a chambray top and a chunky gold chain necklace and you've got a hot new look!

Or for a softer romantic look, pair the skirt with a white lace top, some black wool tights and black chunky heels:

                                                             mix of colors you want

Product of the Month: April

Because I did a blog all about nail design ideas, I've decided this month's product recommendation should be the Nail Art Pen by Sally Hansen.  I was always looking for an easier way to put designs on my nails rather than using a toothpick lol.  Then I came across the Nail Art Pen by Sally Hansen.  Now, many of you are probably thinking "these have been out for a long time and she's just now talking about them like they're some brand new product?"  The truth is, a lot of my friends still think this product looks like complete hooey. That its probably really messy and isn't easy to make designs with.  I was just like them.  When I first saw this product, I thought this is what I've been looking for!  However, I figured it probably wouldn't work like it says it does, that it would be too messy, too runny, the colors wouldn't show up enough, not easy to apply....etc. etc.  But from the moment I tried it, I fell in love and since then I've bought many more colors.  I have it in black, yellow, red, white, orange, silver and navy blue and I'm looking to buy more colors!  So, even though this product has been out for quite some time, this is for the people who are still skeptical about these nail art pens.  I'm here to tell you that they are easy to apply and easy to make designs with (look at my nail design posts) In fact, the tip is pretty precise and therefore it allows you to make your designs large or small depending on what you want.  I will also tell you that the colors do show up very well and are pretty vibrant.  So go out, buy some colors, get creative and have fun!

Product of the Month: March

Spring is right around the corner and its time to shed those layers.........skin layers of course!  That's why this month's product is a scrub glove and it only costs $1 at your local dollar store.  It scrubs away dead skin cells to leave behind smooth, glowing, beautiful skin.  Instead of buying expensive body and face scrubs that run out, you can reuse the glove over and over.  I've had mine for about a year and I put it in the washer and dryer every couple of uses to keep it clean.  I love this glove because it's so cheap and so versatile, you can use it for many different things:

  • I scrub my face with it to give myself a mini-facial and it leaves my skins so silky smooth!
  • Before a day at the pool, I scrub my entire body with it focusing on my arms, legs, and stomach.  I then apply lotion for an all around summery glow
  • I also use it on my hands and feet for a mani-pedi.  I scrub my hands with it before going to bed, focusing on the areas around my nails.  I lather them in lotion and wear gloves.  When I wake up my hands are so soft
  • I use it on my feet to get ready for sandal season by scrubbing away calluses and dead skin on my heels.  I then lather my feet in lotion and vaseline and wear socks to bed to get a deep mosturizing treatment

Nail Evening Wear

Here are 3 sophisticated looks for your nails using subtle hints of glitter.  These looks are great for a night on the town with your friends, a dinner date with that special someone or a formal event.

This look is effortless, because you only have to put glitter on the ring finger.  I used glitter that was the same color of the nail polish.  But you can mix it up by using a different color of glitter than the nail polish.  This look is sweet and flirty.

This one is pretty easy as well.  First start by applying an opaque cream polish. Then add silver glitter nail polish to the tips for a glitzy take on the french manicure.  I love this one because its so elegant looking!

This look is a little more casual. I love the navy blue with the silver glitter; the two colors really compliment each other.  The trick to this design is to keep the silver glitter polish on one side of the nail while sweeping it up and across the top, like the example below:

This one is very similar to the one above but instead of the glitter sweeping up and across, it just sweeps straight across.  The trick to this design is to have the silver glitter polish start on one side of the nail. Then as you brush it across the nail, you want the glitter to gradually diminish as shown in the example below:
